Lemonade Day is a community-wide educational program that provides youth with the opportunity to learn how to start, own and operate their first business…a lemonade stand. Youth are provided with free educational materials through the support of generous local sponsors. Since 1956, we have maintained the most reliable and comprehensive chamber of commerce directory in North America.  Period.

Here’s how it all got started.  In 1932, Ken Erion, a half-full kind of guy, founded a company to publish directories.  A true romantic, he named it after his wife (using her maiden name), the “Johnson Publishing Company.”  He did what all successful business people do—he worked really, really hard.  So, in spite of the Great Depression making things difficult, his company grew.

In 1956, there came a request from his own salesmen:  “Could we produce a directory of chambers of commerce?  It would really help us to have a convenient place to find information on chambers.  Come to think of it, it would really help the customers we serve, as well!”  Thus the World Chamber of Commerce Directory was born.

There was one rule about the Directory—it had to have accurate and reliable information.  We live by this same rule today.

Like all successful businesses, Johnson Publishing has made shifts and changes so as to produce the best product.  In fact, in 1986, the phone book division of Johnson Publishing was sold to US West, leaving the World Chamber of Commerce Directory its main focus.

We are always looking to include even more information for our customers, as well as to add more ways to make that valuable information available.  That is why we not only offer a book-version of the World Chamber of Commerce Directory; we also offer custom data lists, on-line updating and an online subscription…with more ideas yet to come!
